Easy Peasy Apple Pie and Custard

Play School is my kids favourite TV show! Molly obviously learns a lot from it because she's always asking what day it is and what the time on the clock is. Yesterday they made an apple pie on the show and she asked me if we could make one. So of course today we did. This was all about Molly making an apple pie so we made it really easy with as few steps as possible.

I think it turned out pretty cute. Okay I'm sure its not the best apple pie but that wasn't the aim. So if you want to make a really easy apple pie with your kids this is how we did ours.

You will need: 1 sheet frozen shortcrust pastry
1 sheet frozen puff pastry
1 or 2 tins apple pie filling
sultanas
egg

We simply lined the bottom of our greased pie dish with the defrosted shortcrust pastry and trimmed. We mixed the tin of apple pie filling with some sultanas (as Molly loves sultanas at the moment!) and filled the pie dish. I only had 1 tin so mine is a bit of a flat pie. Then we topped it with the puff pastry sheet, trimmed and made a smiley face with the trimmed off pieces. Then we brushed the top with some beaten egg. Bake in an 200 oven til nice and golden on the top.

Of course I can't have apple pie without custard so while it was cooled we made a super easy custard in the microwave.

You will need:
1 cup milk
1 tablespoons custard powder
3 teaspoons of sugar

Combine all ingredients in a microwave jug and microwave on high for 1min 30 secs.
Remove and stir. Then continue to cook one mintue at a time, stirring in between and it's the consistency you like.

Yummo!
