Gifts - Christmas Biscuits

We are extremely lucky here to have fabulous neighbours. We are all different ages and at different stages of our lives but we all get on fabulously.
Last year I made rum balls for them at Christmas but this year I wanted Molly to be more involved so we made simple Christmas biscuits.

I used a fabulous recipe I found through Chantelle at Fat Mum Slim here.

I used red & green m&ms and choc melts instead of choc chips. They are so yummy and very easy to make. I made two lots which gave me three tins medium sized full

I hope my awesome neighbours like them.

Wrapping Paper Organiser

I picked up two of these Christmas Wrapping paper organisers at Spotlight the other day. All their Christmas stuff was 50% off so it was only $14.95.

I've set one up for our family wrapping paper and when the kids are in bed I'll set up the other one with all the Santa stuff. I like the idea that the kids can't accidentally find the special Santa wrapping paper and it will never get mixed up with the family stuff. You'd be surprised at how good kids memories are. A couple of years ago I was at my sisters when she was getting out all her Christmas wrapping paper. Her 5 year old remarked how a particular roll was the same paper that Santa used last year! Oops ..  she thought it was another roll she still had hidden!!

Christmas Decorating 2011 Part 2

Here's some more of the festive decorating around my house.

Above is my attempt to make my own Christmas subway art. It was easy! I did it in a word document and used lots of great fonts from 1001 Free Fonts. The other two frames simply have wrapping paper in them.

Reindeer Food

Today we made some Reindeer food.

All you need is rolled oats and some glitter. Actually we didn't use glitter. Instead I coloured some sugar in a glad bag instead since I had no glitter. Molly had a great time but insisted on doing it all herself!

Molly put the mixture in some mini snaplock bags (the Hercules brand don't have the white band and are all clear) and added a topper I made.

You can download it here.

Secret Santa Wrapping

This year I have been involved in a Social Media Secret Santa organised by the lovely Chantelle at fatmumslim. I've seen some fabulous wrapping ideas by some of the other participants.

I loved the idea I saw of using a simple doily. I bought a pack of doilies from a local craft shop for $2, used some tissue paper and some coloured twinery string and got this ...

Love the result.

The tag was a free printable from eatdrinkchic here.

I hope my special person likes what I choose for her.

The Activity Tub

This is my Activity tub. The wonderful Clare from The Home She Made had featured this great tub from Spotlight some time ago. I loved it and had to have it. Then it became an activity tub out of necessity to save my sanity! Whenever I planned to do craft with Miss Molly I would get all the stuff ready the night before and leave it out on my buffet, table or kitchen bench. This was a total nightmare! As soon as Molly saw it (especially any paint) we would have meltdown city because she would want to do it right then and there. This was driving me quite mad. So the tub became my lifesaver. Everything fits neatly inside, sits on my buffet nicely and because it's so tall Miss Molly can't see what's in it. The meltdowns have stopped :)

Here is my tub ready with Christmas craft. I keep a Christmas mat in here from Kmart to help protect any surface we are working at and a painting apron. The eyes, pom poms and bits of string or other bits n bobs are stored in small Tupperware snack cups without lids that stack on top of each other for easy access.

Christmas Activities - Memory Game

Here's a fabulous memory game I found thanks to Jade from Super Organiser Mum here.
One night I printed them off, sat in front of the TV cut them all out, laminated and cut again! Molly loves it.

With little kids like my Miss Molly just use half of the cards. You can add more as you go or leave the whole set to the following year. We talked a lot about match, same and different. Everytime she got a match she popped it in the tin. She understands the concept of a memory game because she plays Monkey Pre-school lunchbox on my phone.

To download these great cards go to Simple as that here.

Have fun xx

Christmas Decorating 2011 Part 1

Our Christmas decorating this year has a red, silver and white theme. I was going to do Red, green and white but when I started the green got canned! Of course there is a hint of green in places as it is Christmas afterall.

I love our new Merry Christmas Banner from Typo. I love that when I tied it to the blinds it stays perfect when opening and closing them.

Here our buffet. The new things this year are the red and white bowl which was on clearance at Kmart for $1.50, blackboard countdown board from BigW and two small frames from Bed, bath and table. My husband assures me her will finally hang the picture above the buffet before Christmas Day!

Molly has lots of Christmas soft toys given to her by her grandparents so I put them in this tin bucket along with the santa hats on the bottom and a Santa puppet I've had for years.

I hope your Christmas decorating is going well.

xx

Busy Bags - Matching Cards

Here's another great activity from a free printable found here at 1plus1plus1equals1 website which has lots of great printables for kids. This one is a simple match the heads and tails of the animals. It's a great learning opportuniy for colour recognition too.

They've changed the graphics for this printable since I printed them but they are just as cute, if not cuter!

A 30th Birthday Present

It was my sister-in-law's 30th birthday on the weekend. She wanted a gift certificate for her birthday so I grabbed an idea on Pinterest as to how to 'wrap' it. It cost me under $5.

The bag of lollypops were from BigW for just a few dollars and the jar was $2 from Kmart. Easy and cheap. I didn't get to see her reaction as I had to stay home with sick Miss Molly but apparantly she loved it.

Christmas Books

Last week I got out our Christmas books. We don't have that many but I bought I couple of new ones this year. I'd like to get some more. I've seen lots but they have far too many words in them my kid's short attention spans!!

My favourite all time Christmas book is Wombat Divine by Mem Fox. I also love the Jolly Christmas Postman which I've had for years (my school kids loved it).

I was going to keep all the book in the bag pictured (a present from my in-laws) but then I found the perfect basket at Target.

My 100th Post!

Well today I have finally made it to my 100th post.

Yay!!

When I started this blog I really wasn't sure I would make it this far.
Who knew people would actually want to read about what I do and love.

Some of you have been with me from the start and others have joined in recent times
but I thank you all for following me on this journey.
